[Update] Deadbolt Anti ransomware
5th May 2021: We are nearing completion of the code for the first hardened version of the Deadbolt technology for 3rd party assessment.
The technology is a modification of an operating systems kernel so that it does not load binaries (applications) that are not in protected directories or is in a directory that is writeable. This simple approach means that the operating system is locked down against anyone (even someone with a root username and password) loading rogue applications.
We have a kernel coding expert doing the mods and will run the hardened version of Linux on an AWS instance and start to let intrusion testing mobs have a go at it. If we survive that then we will expand the invite list, then open it up publicly.
Here's to hoping we are successful.
It would be so good to stop ransomware.
BTW: If we get it working on Linux then we can definitely get it going on MacOS and Windows.
